For many years young children were free on the buses. Unfortunately we have now had to address this and children and young people from 5 years to 18 years will be charged £2. Children under 5 will still be free.
Dunster Village - No Parking
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THE INFORMATION BELOW then check the Buses and Parking drop down section above to see information about each area for picking up the buses.
THE ROAD IS CLOSED THROUGH DUNSTER FROM 5PM TO 10PM ON FRIDAY AND FROM 4PM TO 10PM ON SATURDAY.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS NO PARKING IN DUNSTER VILLAGE OR THE NATIONAL TRUST CAR PARK DURING THE HOURS OF CANDLELIGHT. THE LOWER STEEP CAR PARK IS OPEN DURING THE DAY UNTIL 2.30PM AND THE NATONAL TRUST CAR PARK IS OPEN UNTIL 2.30PM AFTER THAT PLEASE FOLLOW THE SIGNS TO MINEHEAD FOR THE CANDLELIGHT BUSES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN UP THE STEEP INTO DUNSTER AS YOU WILL BE TURNED BACK AND IT WILL CAUSE A TRAFFIC JAM AND THE CANDLELIGHT BUSES WON'T BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH.
There is NO parking of any kind in Dunster Village or the Castle Grounds from 2.30pm on the nights of Dunster by Candlelight. Candlelight buses are in operation from Minehead, Watchet, Wheddon Cross and Porlock. Times below.
Very few residents in Dunster have their own parking. It is important that they are looked after during Candlelight so it is their cars that fill the Car Parks. They are given special Car Passes to enable them to do this. Please understand that even if you are a National Trust Member there is no parking in Dunster Castle Grounds after 2.30 on both Friday and Saturday.
Please note: Parking is not allowed on the Timberscome Road between the Foresters Arms and Flatford Bridge. Anyone parking there will be ticketed and towed away by the Police.
